The revival of legacy franchises and the return of IP films in Hindi cinema is now a trend that is here to stay. Nostalgia has become the central flavor, with many production houses reviving their age-old franchises and films that have the potential for sequels, prequels, or spin-offs. Joining the list of these movies is now one of the most anticipated of them all, the Race franchise. Last marked its attendance in 2018 with the Salman Khan-led film that was reduced to a meme festival, the franchise has not had a concrete update in the last half a decade. It turns out we are now finally about to get one, and Race 4 is indeed happening. If this feels any less exciting to you, Saif Ali Khan is back, and it turns out there are more details. 

Race 4 is Happening?

This morning, India woke up to the update that Race 4 is in the pipeline and the movie is indeed happening, even after the fiasco that Race 3 was. Later in the day, Filmfare chose to break the news that the movie would take a drastic step and bring back Saif Ali Khan to the franchise that he kick-started but was missing from the third part. The news has certainly left fans excited because Saif was loved and lapped up in both the first two films of the franchise. But that isn't all; there is more to the update.

There is an update that Saif Ali Khan will have a younger actor playing a pivotal role opposite him. The makers are looking for a fresh face to join Race 4. There is still no update on whether Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez, and others will be joining the franchise or not, but the same rumor has brought a filmmaker on board. Yes, Race 4 already has a filmmaker on board, and the director is indeed a very interesting and unique choice.

As per the reports, Nikhil Advani has now come on board as the director of Race 4 and will be taking the franchise ahead. However, there is no confirmation on whether Nikhil will continue with the Race 4 title as per the franchise tradition or change it to a new one. There is no confirmation from any party on this, and everything seems to be in a very adolescent stage at the moment. The report also says that Race 4 will be high on action and adrenaline.

About the Race Franchise

The action franchise that features conmen is about robbery, heist, and top-notch action. The first film was released in 2008 and featured Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu, Anil Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, and Sameera Reddy along with Saif. The second had Deepika Padukone and John Abraham join Saif in 2013. However, Race 3 went through a massive revamp when it brought Salman Khan on board with Bobby Deol and had no one from the original films other than Anil Kapoor.
