Rupa Bhattacharya plays an important role in the new Zee Bangla serial Anandi. She came back to television after a long time. However, instead of being delighted, the actress is devastated, because she is getting relentlessly threatening calls. She said, “I went to the administration but it was fruitless as they remained indifferent.”
Rupa told Anandabazar Online that she joined the RK Kar protest, not from any political party but as an individual. She said, “I am also a girl like the victim. At present, the situation of the state is so bad that any girl can face it. Hence I protested.’ She said that from then on, she has been attacked on social media and slanders were spread about her. The actress said that she could not utter those languages. Rupa once joined the BJP.”
She further added, “Then I sent an email to the cyber branch, but got no response.’ Then Rupa tried to attract the cops’ attention on social media using the screenshots of the threats. But she failed and the threats increased in number. She was sent obscene messages under fake names. A frustrated Rupa said ‘The administration keeps mum and pampers the criminals. Hence the threats pile on.’ She asked ‘If the savior is the spectator, Who will give us safety? Who shall we seek justice to?”
