Queer, directed by Luca Guadagnino—celebrated for films like Call Me By Your Name and Challengers—features a stellar cast including Daniel Craig, Drew Starkey, Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman, Henrique Zaga, Omar Apollo, Andra Ursuta, Andres Duprat, Ariel Shulman, Drew Droege, Michael Borremans, David Lowery, Lisandro Alonso, and Colin Bates.

The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in 2024 and was also selected for the Toronto International Film Festival the same year. Queer is set to stream exclusively on MUBI starting January 31, 2025.

Based on William S. Burroughs' 1985 novella Queer, the film adaptation is written by Challengers writer Justin Kuritzkes, with music by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (known for Challengers, The Killer, Bones and All, Mank) and cinematography by Sayombhu Mukdeeprom (who also worked on Challengers, Call Me By Your Name, and Suspiria).

Daniel Craig earned acting nominations for his performance in Queer from the Golden Globe, Critics' Choice, and Screen Actors Guild awards. Set in 1950s Mexico City, Craig portrays William Lee, an American expat and loner who engages in brief, intimate encounters with younger men while bar-hopping. His life takes a turn when he meets Eugene Allerton (played by Drew Starkey), a former soldier and fellow expat. Lee becomes obsessed with Eugene, convinced that their connection is more than just physical.

Produced by Fremantle, Fremantle North America, Lorenzo Mieli for The Apartment (a Fremantle Group Company), and Luca Guadagnino for his Frenesy Film Company, in collaboration with Cinecittà and Frame by Frame, Queer had a limited theatrical release in the US in November 2024, followed by a December release in the UK. The film received generally positive reviews, with Craig's performance drawing particular praise.
