A revised edition featuring a minimum of 23 minutes of extra footage is what Pushpa 2: The Rule will offer upon its release on OTT platforms. Fans were understandably excited and eagerly anticipating the film's availability, which occurred on January 30. It had previously been announced that the sequel, directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun, would be available on Netflix in four languages: Telugu (the original), Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, due to the limitations regarding the interval between theatrical releases and OTT premieres for Hindi versions.
Pushpa 2 The Rule not streaming in Kannada just yet
Upon the film's release, it was presented in four versions, which did not align with initial expectations. Currently, Pushpa 2: The Rule is available for streaming on Netflix, offering audio options in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. The platform has announced that the Kannada version will be added soon, although no specific date has been provided. Given that the film had a successful theatrical release in Kannada, which performed well at the box office, viewers are left questioning the delay in its availability on OTT platforms.
Online discussions suggest that Pushpa 2: The Rule achieved record box office earnings for a Kannada-dubbed film, totalling Rs 9.2 crore, indicating a clear demand for the film in the local language. This raises the question of why the Kannada version has been excluded. Notably, Allu Arjun did not promote Pushpa 2 in Karnataka, and the significant difference in show allocations between the Telugu original and the Kannada-dubbed version has sparked frustration among audiences, particularly in theatres that are traditional strongholds for Kannada films, which were predominantly screening the Telugu version.
Pushpa 2: The Rule serves as the continuation of Pushpa: The Rise, depicting the evolution of Allu Arjun's character, Pushparaj, as a sandalwood smuggler. The cast includes notable actors such as Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, Daali Dhananjaya, Tarak Ponnappa, Jagadeesh Pratap Bhandari, Jagapati Babu, Sunil, Anusuya Bharadwaj, Rao Ramesh, among others.
