According to Variety, the Telugu film generated $92.5 million at the worldwide box office during its extended opening weekend, spanning from Thursday, December 5 to Sunday, December 8.

Pushpa 2 beats Wicked

In the recent box office developments, Pushpa 2 has outperformed John M. Chu's Universal Pictures musical fantasy Wicked, featuring Ariana Grande, to secure the position of the second highest grosser globally over the past weekend. It trails only behind Disney's animated musical adventure film Moana 2. Wicked garnered $67.7 million in its four-day global collection from Thursday to Sunday, falling approximately $25 million short of Pushpa: The Rule, according to Box Office Mojo.

Additionally, Pushpa 2 has eclipsed Ridley Scott's action epic Gladiator II, starring Paul Mescal, during this extended weekend at the worldwide box office. It now holds the #2 position, following Moana 2, which achieved $164.70 million in global earnings during the same period, as reported by Box Office Mojo. This achievement has positioned Pushpa as the third highest Indian grosser of 2024 on a global scale, following Nag Ashwin's Telugu dystopian sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD, featuring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, which currently stands at $141 million, and Amar Kaushik's Bollywood horror comedy Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, which has amassed $103 million worldwide.

The follow-up to the 2021 action film, produced by Mythri Movie Makers, showcases Allu Arjun returning to his role as the crime lord Pushpa Raj. The narrative focuses on his confrontations with police officer Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, portrayed by Fahadh Faasil. Additionally, Rashmika Mandanna reprises her role as Pushpa's wife, Srivalli.
