Prosenjit Chatterjee, the renowned Bengali actor, is gearing up to portray a politician in Neeraj Pandey's upcoming series, Khakee: The Bengal Chapter. During the trailer launch, Chatterjee shared his thoughts on the project and the hurdles he encountered while preparing for his character. His strong connection to the role and commitment to embodying it were clear in his remarks.

He kicked things off by discussing the intricacies of his character, stating, "For the past 14-15 years, I’ve been aiming to take on different kinds of roles. I’m not sure if I’m hitting the mark or not. When Neeraj sir reached out to me, I wasn’t sure what the character would entail. I’ve played politicians before, but this one is unlike anything I’ve done. It was definitely a challenge."

Chatterjee highlighted how crucial preparation is for such a layered role, mentioning, "The director worked closely with me, helping me grasp his vision, and I aimed to bring that to life on screen."

Having grown up observing politicians, Chatterjee reflected on how his perspective on these figures has changed over the years. "I’ve seen many politicians throughout my life, but I didn’t have a specific one in mind while acting. The brief I received was straightforward, and I focused on that. I did my utmost to align with what was needed," he explained.

He also touched on the pressure stemming from the success of the Bihar Chapter, acknowledging the responsibility the team felt. "The Bihar Chapter was a massive success, so there was definitely some pressure on us. But we all put in a lot of effort, and now we’re counting on your support," he added.

The series, which stars Jeet Madnani, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Saswata Chatterjee, and Parambrata Chatterjee, is directed by Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Ray. Neeraj Pandey serves as the showrunner and co-writer alongside Debatma Mandal and Samrat Chakraborty.

Khakee: The Bengal Chapter is set to premiere on March 20 on Netflix.
