Prithviraj Sukumaran, the director of Empuraan, established himself as a significant talent early in his acting career. He reaffirmed his capabilities with the hit film Lucifer, this time taking on the role of director. The accomplished actor-director is now returning with the sequel to the 2019 film, Empuraan, featuring Mohanlal. In a recent promotional interview, Prithviraj discussed his conversation with a senior executive from a prominent OTT platform, who expressed concerns regarding a specific scene in Empuraan. The L2E director now has a response prepared for him.

Prithviraj on his talks with OTT giant for Empuraan

Certainly, Empuraan has been produced on an unprecedented scale, which is quite rare in the small film industry of Kerala. Featuring intricate sets and dynamic action sequences, Empuraan aims to set new standards in Malayalam cinema. The extensive effort required to execute the film was so significant that an official from a streaming platform informed Prithviraj that executing a specific scene was unfeasible.

Reflecting on his conversation with a senior executive from the streaming service, Prithviraj shared that he presented the film during a Zoom meeting. This occurred at the initial stages of the project, aimed at securing their investment, he clarified.

"I was describing a specific scene that occurs about an hour into the first half. However, the executive interrupted me, questioning how I intended to execute it. I assured him that I had a plan," Prithviraj recounted.

"Nevertheless, he remained skeptical, insisting that it wouldn't be feasible. That individual is still employed at the same streaming service. So, if you're listening, just so you know, I made it happen," the director of Empuraan humorously remarked.

Supriya lauds Prithviraj

Previously, Prithviraj's spouse, Supriya, praised her husband for the immense dedication and effort he invested in creating one of the most ambitious films in Malayalam cinema. "I am aware of the ridicule you have faced and the boldness of your aspirations. To all the skeptics, I have just one message: 'Aalarinjyu Kalikyada,'" a proud Supriya expressed on Instagram.

Six years following the release of the political action thriller Lucifer in 2019, Empuraan premiered in theaters globally on March 27.
