After Harrison Ford’s 1990 film adaptation, the limited series has some big shoes to fill this summer. Presumed Innocent will be available for streaming on Apple TV+ starting June 14, 2024. The show has not released any trailers yet, but the novel and the logline provided by Apple TV are more than sufficient. Yet, instead of quelling the curiosity of viewers, they only serve to further pique it.

Presumed Innocent plot

Presumed Innocent is an exciting courtroom drama that is full of drama, vengeance, obsession, sex, politics, ambition, and broken hearts. Gyllenhaal plays Rusty Sabich a chief deputy prosecutor at the Prosecuting attorney’s office. When a co-worker, Carolyn Polhemus, is murdered, the case is assigned to Rusty by his boss, the district attorney Raymond Horgan.

All Horgan cares about is winning the re-election that is round the corner. But unbeknownst to all but his wife Barbara, Rusty had had a brief dalliance with Carolyn during his marriage, which ended months before the latter died. Now, when secrets start coming to the forefront and personal agendas are tallied, Rusty is accused of his own client’s murder by an angry Horgan.

The latter is sore from losing to his nemesis Nico Della Guardia and further goaded by Tommy Molto, his overzealous deputy. Now, with all conflicts in place, Rusty’s real struggle begins. He not only has to prove his innocence, but also must hold his crumbling marriage, family and life together, while trying to find out who the real killer is among them.
