Preminchoddu is an independent film that premiered on June 7, 2024. Although the film's premise was promising, it failed to achieve commercial success at the box office. For several months, the producers faced challenges in obtaining a streaming platform agreement for the film.

Preminchoddu locks its OTT platform

However, the film has now started streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Reports suggest that Amazon paid a decent amount to acquire the OTT rights for Preminchoddu, providing some relief to the makers as the film is now available for streaming on Prime Video.

Preminchoddu – Don’t Love was produced under the Shirin Sriram Café banner and stars Anuroop Reddy, Deva Malishetti, Sarika, and Manasa in lead roles. Directed and produced by Shirin Sriram, the movie is set in a small neighbourhood and portrays a youthful love story. Interestingly, the film was released in five languages.

Preminchoddu draws inspiration from actual events to impart a cautionary message regarding the perils of engaging in romantic relationships at a young age. The film employs a raw and authentic tone, illustrating the love stories of adolescents and young adults, the detrimental impact of romance on educational pursuits, and the repercussions of entering into love too soon.

The film culminates in a tragic conclusion, where the female protagonist, involved with two men, meets a shocking demise at their hands. The narrative gradually unveils the motivations behind this outcome. Featuring a youthful cast, the film is presented competently, although it could have benefitted from greater emotional resonance. Viewers who appreciate realistic portrayals of college life may find this film to be a worthwhile experience.

Preminchoddu also made headlines when the makers filed a complaint against the makers of the film Baby, alleging that their story was copied, altered, and remade as Baby. The case is currently ongoing in court. Stay tuned for more updates.
