Basil Joseph, known for his remarkable range of performances, took on the lead role in 'Pravinkoodu Shappu'. This Malayalam film, which premiered in theaters in January 2025, is poised to make its highly anticipated debut on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium next week. In addition to being available in Malayalam, Basil Joseph's whodunnit thriller will also be accessible for streaming in Hindi and various other South Indian languages on the platform.

Pravinkoodu Shappu on OTT

Pravinkoodu Shappu, featuring Basil Joseph as a police officer, is set to stream on SonyLiv starting April 11, 2025, two months following its release in theaters. Viewers can also access this Malayalam mystery thriller with an OTTplay Premium subscription. For those who do not speak Malayalam, the film will be available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, or Kannada on both SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium, complete with English subtitles.

Upon its theatrical release on January 16, Pravinkoodu Shappu received a range of reviews, from positive to mixed. Despite this, the film did not achieve commercial success at the Kerala box office in January, where only Asif Ali’s Rekhachithram emerged as a hit.

However, given the increasing popularity of the Maranamass star, Pravinkoodu Shappu is expected to resonate with viewers in the OTT arena. His latest OTT release, Ponman, received acclaim for his performances following its debut on JioHotstar.

Pravinkoodu Shappu plot and cast 

In addition to Basil Joseph, the cast of the film includes Soubin Shahir, Chemban Vinod Jose, Chandini Sreedharan, and Shabareesh Varma. Sreeraj Sreenivasan, who is also the screenwriter, makes his directorial debut with Pravinkoodu Shappu.

The captivating mystery thriller centers on Officer Santhosh (Basil Joseph) as he investigates the murder of a toddy shop owner discovered dead one fateful night. Among the suspects are several regular patrons who remained at the establishment, engaged in a game of cards.

In addition, Basil Joseph is preparing for the premiere of Maranamass, scheduled to be released in theaters on April 10, 2025. On the same day, audiences can also look forward to the theatrical releases of Mammootty's Bazooka and the young star Naslen's Alappuzha Gymkhana.
