While the character posters of debutant director Sreeraj Sreenivasan’s directorial Pravinkoodu Shappu revealed different avatars of its central cast that has Basil Joseph, Soubin Shahir, and Chemban Vinod Jose, its latest look pretty much confirmed that the film will be about the chaos that gets unleashed at a toddy shop in Kerala.

The latest poster, which was released over the weekend, features its male leads in their gritty avatars while we also get a glimpse of Chandini Sreedharan, who was recently seen in Joju George’s Pani.

Basil Joseph's Pravinkoodu Shappu gets a release date

A card game seems to be a pivotal point of conflict, as Chemban, in a tonsured avatar, is seen flipping the cards while Soubin has a maniacal laugh and Basil flaunts his sombre yet dapper look in his police uniform. Incidentally, Basil’s latest theatrical release, Vaazha, also had him playing a cop.

Pravinkoodu Shappu, which was filmed in Ernakulam and Thrissur, is a dark comedy that is expected to hit theatres as a Christmas release. The film also has Shabareesh Varma, Sivajith Padmanabhan, Niyas Backer, and Revathi in pivotal roles. What has also got the fans excited is that the movie is backed by filmmaker Anwar Rasheed, and marks cinematographer Shyju Khalid’s next project after Manjummel Boys, which also had Soubin in a central role. Premalu composer Vishnu Vijay is also part of Pravinkoodu Shappu.

Basil Joseph's Sookshmadarshini to hit theatres in November

Before Pravinkoodu Shappu, Basil will be seen in Sookshmadarshini which has him teaming up with Nazriya Nazim Fahadh for the first time. Incidentally, Premalu’s producers had initially approached its director Gireesh AD for a script for the actor duo, before they went ahead with the film with Naslen and Mamitha Baiju.

Sookshmadarshini, which is directed by MC, is set to hit theatres on November 22. Basil already has had a great year, with movies such as Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil and Ajayante Randam Moshanam, and will be looking to close 2024 on a high with his next two releases.
