In Kannada movie circles, it was known that Pramod Shetty was a part of Kiccha Sudeep’s much-awaited next, Max, but it was only recently when the teaser came out that the news was confirmed. The film has a star cast including actors from most south states. Pramod, though, almost did not do the film. In a recent radio interview with RJ Nethra, Pramod spoke about the time he was approached for Max.

“My manager told me that there was an urgent requirement of 5 days dates, with the rest to be allotted a month later or so. My schedules for the next 2-3 months are normally all set much in advance, so I knew it was going to be a difficult ask and said that I could spare 2 days immediately and that the rest would have to be done later. At this point, I had no idea which film this was for and when we discussed date allocation again, I was ready to let go of it. That is when I was told that I’d been approached for Max,” he said.

Small but impactful role

Until then, Pramod had not worked with Sudeep and was quite keen to make this opportunity happen. The director, Vijay Kartikeyaa called Pramod and explained the character, which the latter quite liked, even though the screen space was limited. “It’s a small, but important role that has a massive impact on the narrative,” said Pramod, who then somehow, he managed to give them 3 days immediately.

Upon his return, Pramod spoke to the makers of another Kannada film he was doing at the time and made adjustments that would allow him to fulfil his commitment for Max as well. This involved a lot of shuttling up and down between Bengaluru and Chennai, but it was an effort that was worth it, says the actor. Max, he adds, has turned out beautifully well and will meet the expectations of fans. It’s a one-of-a-kind movie for Sudeep, says Pramod.
