Pramod Shetty Updates on Rakshit Shetty's Richard Anthony: A Delayed Start

Pramod Shetty Updates on Rakshit Shetty's Richard Anthony: A Delayed Start

In July 2021, actor and filmmaker Rakshit Shetty revealed that he was stepping back into the director's chair for a movie titled Richard Anthony. This film serves as a prequel to his first directorial effort, Ulidavaru Kandanthe, and centers around his character. Rakshit has been crafting the script for some time and mentioned to OTTPlay that he aims to release the film in theaters by 2025.

Sure thing! Here’s a different take on that text:

So, that's definitely not happening anytime soon since he hasn't even started filming yet. It's been a minute since Rakshit shared any news about Richard Anthony, so the next best thing is to check in with Pramod Shetty. He’s set to return as Dinesha from Ulidavaru Kandanthe and has a movie coming out on February 28, which he's been busy promoting..

Richard Anthony is set to start filming in the latter half of 2025

Pramod shared that Richard Anthony is currently in the US, where Rakshit is busy working on what they hope will be the final draft of the film. Over the past year and a half, Rakshit has made several trips to focus and jot down his ideas for the project. He’s expected to be back soon, and once he is, pre-production will kick off. Pramod believes that in about 4-5 months, Rakshit will be all set to start filming.

If Richard Anthony kicks off in the second half of 2025, and Rakshit thinks it’ll take him at least a year and a half to finish the film, we’re looking at a 2027 release. That’s a solid 3 to 3.5 years after his last movie, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello. After Richard Anthony, Rakshit plans to dive into the two-part Punyakoti, a project he’s been passionate about for quite some time.

He’s also eager to work on Mid-way to Moksha, which will feature all three Shettys – Rakshit, Rishab, and Raj. As for Kirik Party 2, it’ll still be under his production, but a fresh team and new actors will take the reins.

If you’re interested, Ulidavaru Kandanthe, the film that inspired Richard Anthony, is available for streaming on Sun NXT and OTTPlay Premium.
