27 days ago | 5 Views
Director and actor Pradeep Ranganathan, known for his successful film Love Today, which was adapted into Hindi as Loveyapa, shared insights into why the latter did not achieve the same box office success as its Tamil counterpart. Continue reading to discover Pradeep Ranganathan's thoughts on the reasons behind Loveyapa's underperformance.
Pradeep Ranganathan on why Loveyapa doomed at Hindi box office
Pradeep Ranganathan, currently occupied with promotional activities for his forthcoming Tamil film Dragon, was inquired about the lacklustre performance of the Hindi remake of the successful film Love Today. For those unfamiliar, Pradeep Ranganathan both directed and starred in Love Today, which was adapted into Hindi as Loveyapa and premiered on February 7. The cast included Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan, but the film did not achieve commercial success.

Pradeep expressed that he had preserved a particular style, noting that the Hindi adaptation lacked the stylistic elements present in the Tamil version. He illustrated his point by stating, "It is akin to a ball being caught a meter before the crease line; in that case, it is considered out. Otherwise, it would have been a six. Upon viewing the film, I noticed several subtle stylistic omissions. I suspect I approached it from a director's perspective, and perhaps the execution was not quite right."
The creator of Love Today further remarked that he finds it challenging to assess the cultural context of the film. He commented, "In this version, the character is portrayed as an ordinary boy, whereas in the other, both characters are from prominent families. We perceive them as star kids, which might contribute to the difference. However, I cannot identify a single definitive reason."
Where to watch Love Today on OTT?

Love Today can be streamed on Netflix. Featuring performances by Ivana, Sathyaraj, Yogi Babu, and others, the film achieved significant commercial success upon its release. The narrative centers on two young lovers who are instructed by the girl's father to swap their phones for a day, in order to demonstrate their love and trust in one another.
