The recently released film Dragon, featuring Pradeep Ranganathan, has achieved a remarkable milestone by grossing Rs 50 crore at the global box office. This accomplishment positions it as the fastest Tamil film of 2025 to reach the halfway mark of the 100-crore club. If the current momentum persists, Dragon is likely to surpass Ajith Kumar's film Vidaamuyarchi in a matter of days.

The film Dragon, featuring actor and filmmaker Pradeep Ranganathan in the principal role, has achieved remarkable success at the box office, surpassing its first weekend collection. By the conclusion of its opening weekend, the film amassed a total of Rs 50.22 crores globally (gross), as announced by the producer, Archana Kalpathi, on social media. The film garnered Rs 24.9 crores in Tamil Nadu, along with Rs 6.25 crores from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Additionally, it earned Rs 4.37 crores from other states, while the overseas collection reached Rs 14.7 crores.

Dragon has distinguished itself as the first Tamil film of 2025 to attain financial success. If this momentum continues, it is poised to surpass Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi, which has accumulated a modest Rs 80 crores over 17 days.

Written and directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, the film features a cast that includes KS Ravi Kumar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Vj Siddhu, Harshath Khan, Anupama Parameshwaran, Kayadu Lohar, George Mariyan, Indhumathy Manigandan, Thenappan, among others.

The narrative centers on a diligent schoolboy who descends into a life of irresponsibility upon entering college. With 48 academic arrears, he secures a lucrative job through unethical means. However, he eventually faces the necessity of returning to college to address his backlogs, lest his carefully constructed life begins to unravel.

Following its theatrical release, Dragon will be available for streaming on Netflix. The film features a musical score by Leon James and includes a surprise cameo in the post-credit scene.
