A few days ago, there were reports that Kannada superstar Yash’s much-awaited Toxic, which is expected to be in theatres on April 10, 2025, would be delayed. The Geethu Mohandas directorial is said to be on floors with a schedule in Bengaluru, but with major portions still pending and managing the dates of its star-studded cast for the same, the team is unsure of being able to meet the initially planned release date. April 10 was highly unlikely, reckoned sources close to the film team.
And then, late last night, the release date of Prabhas’ The Raja Saab was announced, which, as it turns out is also April 10, 2025. Will Prabhas and Yash clash at the box office? Industry insiders reckon that Raja Saab and Toxic are unlikely to clash, and that the former’s release date was, in all probability, decided based on confirmation that Yash’s film will not make it on time.
The audience base for both Raja Saab and Toxic are more or less the same and, hence, a clash will be avoided at all costs. Yash, though, is no stranger to clashing with a big-ticket release. KGF: Chapter 1, for instance, released along with Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero, at a time. By the time KGF: Chapter 2 came along, the franchise and Yash were in a different league, so, a clash with Vijay’s Beast was no biggie.
For Toxic, the title and the release date were the only two confirmations that came from official sources, way back in December last year. At the time, the benefit of the release date was dissected, considering that it comes almost 3 years after KGF: Chapter 2. Multiple holidays and weekends would work for the film, it was said, but if the latest is to be believed, Prabhas will repeat that benefit.
