It looks like Director Maruthi's horror-comedy, The Raja Saab featuring Prabhas, won't be making its scheduled release. Although the director and People Media Factory haven't said much, a source from the film crew told Hindustan Times that the movie won't be coming out on April 10 as originally intended.

What's causing the delay for The Raja Saab release?

There hasn't been any update on when the film will drop, but there were some whispers that Prabhas' ankle injury might be holding things up. He's also been tied up with his project alongside Hanu Raghavapudi, which is rumored to be called Fauji. A source from the film crew shared with HT, “It’s true that The Raja Saab won’t hit theaters on April 10 as originally planned. But it’s not because of Prabhas’ health or other projects.”

The source went on to say, “Maruthi’s film relies heavily on VFX, and he wants everything to look perfect for the audience to enjoy. They haven’t locked in a new release date yet, but there are still some good slots available later this year. A new date will be announced once they make significant progress in post-production.”

The delays in the Raja Saab shoot

The Raja Saab has been hit with some major delays since it started production back in 2022. Filming took longer than expected, even after the COVID-19 pandemic, but by December last year, the team announced they had completed about 80% of the shoot. They mentioned, “The Raja Saab shooting is moving along quickly with non-stop day and night schedules. We’re almost done with 80% of the filming, and post-production is already in progress.”

There was some buzz about a teaser dropping around Christmas or New Year, but those rumors were shot down. Updates on the film have been pretty scarce, leaving fans itching for more info. It seems like the release won’t happen this summer as initially planned, and the filmmakers will share a statement once they nail down a new release date, according to sources.

Alongside Prabhas, The Raja Saab features Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Riddhi Kumar in key roles, with Thaman S handling the music.
