Powder, the fourth production by KRG Studios, which is its first collaboration with popular Mumbai-based banner The Viral Fever (TVF) is set to release in theatres on August 23. Pushed ahead first from July 12 to August 15 and then again by a week, Powder is most definitely sticking to its new release plan, in the run-up to which its trailer has been launched.

All about Powder

Gultoo fame director Janardhan Chikkanna’s latest presentation, which is based on a story by Deepak Venkateshan, has an ensemble cast on board, including Diganth, Dhanya Ramkumar, Sharmiela Mandre, Aniruddh Acharya, Nagabhushan, Rangayana Raghu, Ravishankar Gowda, Bharath GB and Gopalkrishna Deshpande, among others. Described as a movie with fun, thrill, romance, and hope, Powder is said to be a rib-tickling comedy comedy about a bunch of youngsters trying to make a quick buck, with a certain narcotic substance at the centre of this plan.

The trailer, which dropped moments ago, sheds light on the subject, with Diganth, Dhanya and Anirudh getting their hands on a multi-crore consignment of drugs packaged in talcum powder tins and trying to sell it, while the original owners hot in pursuit and trying to get their ‘stuff’ back. What will become of the Powder in the process?

KRG Studios’ upcoming slate

Powder, meanwhile, is only the first of a multi-film deal that KRG Studios has with TVF. The two banners are looking at making films across all 4 south industries, with newer projects to be announced shortly. KRG’s other upcoming projects include Kiriket 11 with Danish Sait and Naveen Shankar, the two-part gangster flick Uttarakaanda with Dhananjaya and Shivarajkumar, an untitled film to be helmed by Bangalore Days maker Anjali Menon, and Kiccha Sudeep’s much-awaited return to direction, King Kichcha. The banner has also joined Kerala-based Friday Film Factory to co-produce films, the first of which, Padakkalam is currently in the works.
