KRG Studios’ next, Powder, is the banner’s first collaboration with The Viral Fever, with many more to follow. The first venture is directed by Janardhan Chikkanna, who caught everyone’s attention with his debut film Gultoo. The follow-up is a new-age comedy with drugs at the centre of it and has Diganth in the lead, along with Dhanya Ramkumar, Bharath GB, Nagabhushana, Sunder Veena, Anirudh Acharya, Rangayana Raghu, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Sharmiela Mandre, among others.

The film was initially announced to be a July 12 release, which was pushed to August 15 and then again by a week. It will now be in theatres on August 23, ahead of which, the team is set to release the trailer. Earlier today, KRG Studios announced that the trailer will be released on August 7 at 11.11 am. This, they say, will be another sample to make audiences laugh out loud.

An earlier teaser had created a lot of buzz among film fans about Powder, and the trailer will add to this excitement. The official note from the team states that the film is about a bunch of youngsters hoping to make a quick buck and the obstacles they face along the way. The film, according to Janardhan, has thriller elements, which have been disguised in a light-hearted fun tale. The idea, he’d added, was to give Kannada audiences a film with ample instances to laugh out loud. Powder is based on a story by Deepak Venkatesan and has music by Vasuki Vaibhav.

KRG Studios is said to have greenlit at least 2 other projects with TVF, official announcements of which are expected shortly. The banner is also collaborating with Kerala-based Friday Film Factory, with the first venture, Padakkalam, already in the works. Back home, KRG Studios has Uttarakaanda on floors. This is a two-part gangster flick with Dhananjaya in the lead and Shivarajkumar in a pivotal role.
