Poolman plot overview

Darren Barrenman (Chris Pine), a seemingly ordinary pool cleaner from Los Angeles, finds his mundane life upended when he is approached by a mysterious woman. Her allure is undeniable, her eyes hold captivity. She approaches him in a world which sounds like a dangerous deal filled with corruption and deceit.

She offers Darren a chance to expose a corrupt business that threatens to destabilise the city’s balance of power. An intrigued Darren agrees to help her out. However, little did he know that this seemingly simple task would lead down a rabbit hole of deception, betrayal, and deadly consequences.

Chris Pine’s experience as a director for Poolman

Last year in an exclusive interview with Moviefone, Chris Pine expressed his excitement and shared a lot of insights about his directorial debut. He shared that being a director helped him find clarity about the film industry, and made him learn many things, which he never thought about before.

I have never thought about directing, and the stars aligned because of Covid, really. I had an idea for a pool man named Darren Barrenman that shot around in my brain for two years. Then Covid hit and I was bored and going through a lot of stuff personally. I decided to make it happen, and I tried to hire a writer, but he didn’t really work out, so I decided to write it with my writing partner. Then, as I was writing it, I was thinking about it visually, so then it just felt like what I had to do”, stated Chris Pine.
