Actor Pooja Hegde, who will be playing the female lead in the upcoming Tamil film tentatively titled Suriya 44, has wrapped up shooting for the project. The film is directed by filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj and is touted to be a gangster drama.

We had earlier reported that Pooja Hegde will be pairing up with Suriya in the upcoming Tamil film which is temporarily called Suriya 44. The film is helmed by Karthik Subbaraj in his maiden collaboration with Suriya.
Pooja Hegde has been roped in to play the female lead opposite Suriya. Marking the first time she will be working with both the actor and Karthik Subbaraj, Pooja Hegde revealed that she has finished shooting for her portions in Suriya 44, in her Instagram story.
Touted to be a gangster drama, Suriya 44 will be co-produced by Suriya's home banner, 2D Entertainment and the Karthik's Stone Bench Films. The film is under production, with actors Jayaram, Karunakaran, and Joju George and others playing pivotal roles. A release date for the film is yet to be announced by the makers. Santhosh Narayanan is scoring the music for Suriya 44.
Pooja Hegde’s last Tamil film Beast
It has been a while since we saw Pooja Hegde in Tamil. The actor’s last outing in the language was Beast in which she played alongside Vijay. The Nelson Dilipkumar directorial is available for streaming on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium.
Beast is an action thriller film which revolves around an ex-RAW agent who has to help the hostages escape from a shopping mall which is hijacked by terrorists. Beast opened to mixed response upon its release.
Suriya 44 will mark Pooja Hegde's comeback to Tamil cinema after Beast. The actor was also seen in Telugu film Acharya and Hindi films Cirkus and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan
