Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde's forthcoming film, Deva, is among the most eagerly awaited releases of 2025. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, the film features notable performances from Pavail Gulati, Pravesh Rana, and Kubbra Sait in significant roles. On January 17, 2025, the cast gathered in Mumbai for the trailer launch event, which has generated considerable excitement among online audiences. The highly anticipated trailer has captivated viewers, particularly highlighting Shahid's dynamic portrayal, which has further heightened fan enthusiasm. During the media interactions at the event, both Shahid and Pooja discussed their respective characters, with Pooja expressing admiration for Shahid's performance, marking their first collaboration.

Pooja Hegde lauds Shahid Kapoor's work in Deva

Pooja Hegde, an actress known for her roles in various Bollywood films, remarked that audiences will witness a transformed Shahid in the film Deva. She expressed to the media, "I must emphasize that Shahid Kapoor has performed exceptionally well. Upon viewing the trailer, I reached out to him and inquired, ‘How have you achieved this? I could distinctly see every vein on your forehead. How is that possible?’ Even in the first half, when he delivered his lines, I initially thought it was dubbed, but he assured me it was not. Viewers are certainly going to experience a new side of Shahid in this film. While he has portrayed diverse characters in the past, this role is particularly intense and remarkable."

Both actors provided insights into their roles within the film. Shahid described Deva as the most intricate character he has portrayed. He remarked, "Deva is the most intricate character I’ve ever played, and I have taken on several roles, but this character truly challenged me. It was Rosshan Andrrews, the director, who conceived and offered me this role. As an actor, one always seeks opportunities to elevate their craft, which is no simple task. I cannot undertake just any role; I must align with the story, the character, and the universe it inhabits. If I exceed those boundaries, I risk compromising the integrity of my character, and I hope to avoid that, as it is not in my nature. Deva provided me with the opportunity to stretch my abilities as an actor after a considerable time. The character possesses a notable presence and aura, along with a commanding personality that defines Deva, contributing to his charisma and star quality, which required a blend of both attributes."

Pooja Hegde will portray the character of an investigative journalist, a role she has always found appealing. She expressed her admiration for films like Spotlight, which resonated with her due to their intense focus on the pursuit of truth. Pooja described her character as an "alpha female," emphasizing her commitment to authenticity. She stated, "Rosshan sir provided me with a crucial directive: ‘I want to see Diya, not Pooja.’ My objective was to present her as a genuine individual—strong yet not abrasive. Diya is unafraid to express her opinions and serves as an ideal counterpart to Dev’s character. While we have frequently encountered alpha males, it is now time to showcase alpha females."

The film Deva is set to be released in theatres on January 31, 2025.
