This film represents Pooja Hegde's inaugural collaboration with Suriya, and Netflix has acquired the streaming rights for this action drama. The teaser, which was unveiled a few months ago, highlighted Pooja in a traditional look, and their on-screen chemistry received considerable acclaim. Reports indicate that she plays a pivotal role in Retro, which is approaching the end of its filming.

In a noteworthy development, Pooja Hegde has lent her own voice for the first time in Tamil for Retro. In her previous projects, including Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, her voice was provided by others.

In a recent interview, Pooja Hegde conveyed her astonishment when Karthik Subbaraj approached her for the lead role. She remarked, "I was taken aback when Karthik sir offered me Retro. The character is entirely different from my typical persona, and I felt deeply honored to be considered for it. I realized I needed to give it my utmost effort."

Produced by Jyothika and Suriya under their production company, Retro is scheduled for release on May 1, 2025. The film has created significant anticipation, and director Karthik Subbaraj noted that Suriya was greatly impressed with the final product and Pooja Hegde's authentic performance.

Pooja Hegde is set to make a special appearance in the film Coolie and will take on the female lead role in both Kanchana 4 and Jana Nayagan. Furthermore, she has secured a significant Bollywood project entitled Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.
