Ponman, the 2025 Malayalam film featuring actor and director Basil Joseph in the leading role, is now available for streaming. JioHotstar has bagged the streaming rights of the film, which can now be watched in various regional languages along with English subtitles.

Following the success of the acclaimed film Minnal Murali, director Basil Joseph has shifted his focus to acting, where he has showcased several impressive performances in Malayalam cinema. His latest project is the drama Ponman, which premiered in theaters in January 2025. The streaming rights for the film have been acquired by JioHotstar, making it available for viewing.

Ponman marks the directorial debut of art director Jothish Shankar, who has previously contributed to notable films such as Kumbalangi Nights and Android Kunjappan Version 5.25, both recognized as some of the finest Malayalam films in recent years.

The narrative of Ponman is adapted from GR Indugopan’s novel Naalanchu Cheruppakar. In addition to Basil Joseph, the film features prominent performances from Sajin Gopu, Lijomol Jose, Anand Manmadhan, and Deepak Parambol, among others.

What is Ponman about?

The narrative unfolds in Kollam, centering on a gold dealer named PP Ajesh, who provides gold jewelry for the wedding of Bruno's sister, Steffi. When the agreement to return the gold is not honored, Ajesh is compelled to confront Steffi’s husband to reclaim the jewelry. The film garnered positive reviews upon its release, bolstered by Basil Joseph's commendable performance. It is produced by Vinayaka Ajith under the Ajith Vinayaka Films banner, with cinematography by Sanu John Varghese and editing by Nidhin Raj Arol. The musical score is composed by Justin Varghese.
