The makers of the upcoming Malayalam film, Ponman, have released its first poster today (August 17). There are hints of a full-fledged comedy entertainer in the film, which stars Basil Joseph. This film, which is bankrolled by Ajith Vinayaka under the banner of Ajith Vinayaka Films, is being directed by Jothish Shankar. The original score and soundtracks for this project are being composed by Justin Varghese. In the next days, more information about the cast and story should be revealed.

Basil Joseph among highly sought after actor

Basil Joseph is one of the most sought-after young stars in Mollywood thanks to his performances and screenplay choices. After the release of Varshangalkku Shesham and Guruvayoorambala Nadayil in the first half of 2024, the actor and director looks to have a busy second half of the year.

The audience praised his performance and storyline in one of his other family entertainers, Falimy, which is available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Nunakuzhi, his most recent film, received varying reviews from viewers when it debuted in theatres on August 15. He has several films scheduled for release this year, including Marana Mass, Pravinkoodu Shappu, Sookshmadarshini, and Ajayante Randam Moshanam, starring Tovino Thomas.

Ajayante Randam Moshanam to release in Onam

Ajayante Randam Moshanam, directed by Jithin Laal, is the most eagerly awaited project in Malayalam this year. As per the most recent social media post by the makers, the highly anticipated period drama starring the actor is set to release in September, coinciding with Onam. Basil is shown in the character poster sporting round-framed glasses, a shirt with a muted shade, and his hair pulled back. It appears that he is playing a character from the 1980s.

Maniyan, Kunjikelu, and Ajayan are the main characters in the movie; they are all supposedly trying to protect the biggest treasure in the area. In the film, Tovino will take on all these three roles for the first time in his career.
