Perusu, the 2025 Tamil film which stars actors and brothers Sunil and Vaibhav in the lead roles, released in theatres on Friday (March 14). The film, which is censored with A certificate, is an adult comedy drama which revolves around post-mortem erection. Owing to this, Perusu has made a modest opening with Rs 0.53 crore on its first day in India.

The 2025 Tamil film Perusu features the collaboration of actor brothers Sunil and Vaibhav. Following their joint effort in the 2024 crime thriller Ranam Aram Thavarel, which is currently available on Aha Tamil and OTTplay Premium at a discounted rate, the siblings have come together once again for an adult comedy. Perusu, which has received an A certification due to its storyline, centers on the death of a highly regarded elderly man who passes away in an unusual state. The film explores the challenges faced by the grieving family as they attempt to arrange the funeral without revealing the circumstances of his passing to the villagers.

The film has garnered Rs 0.53 crore at the Indian box office on its opening day. Due to its censor certificate and subject matter, the film is deemed inappropriate for children, which may impact its overall earnings. Nevertheless, Perusu has been receiving positive reviews, potentially drawing in viewers aged 18 and older to see it in theaters.

Perusu OTT partner revealed

Netflix has acquired the streaming rights for the film, which will be available for viewing following its theatrical release. The production team includes Kaarthekeyen S, Harman Baweja, and Hiranya Perera. The film features music composed by Arun Raj, while Sundaramurthy K.S. provides the background score. Cinematography is handled by Sathya Thilakam, and the editing is done by Sooriya Kumaraguru.

Perusu marks the acting debut of Niharika NM in Tamil, alongside performances from Chandini, Deepa Shankar, Redin Kingsley, and Bala Saravanan, among others. The film is both written and directed by Ilango Ram, who has also created a version in Sinhalese.
