South Korean actor Park Hyung Sik is poised for a significant return with his forthcoming drama, Treasure Island (literal translation). Departing from his typical romantic comedy roles, Hyung Sik is prepared to immerse himself in an action-oriented narrative, taking on the role of the head of the Public Affairs team for the chairperson of the Daesan Group. He will be joined by Heo Joon Ho, who is set to play a wealthy and influential professor. SBS provided fans with an initial look at the drama during the 2024 SBS Drama Awards.
The initial teaser for the K-drama Treasure Island has been unveiled.
The initial preview of the K-drama was unveiled on December 21. The teaser commences with Seo Dong Joo (Park Hyung Sik) fixating on the Daesan logo within the corporate premises, pledging in a voiceover, "Just wait. I will make you pay for this." Regarded as an individual willing to sacrifice everything for the company, Dong Joo conceals a significant secret.
Transitioning to the subsequent scene, it is revealed that Daesan chairman Cha Kang Chun has no son, prompting the protagonist to mutter, "Seo Dong Joo, aim high." Shortly thereafter, he emerges as a pivotal figure in the internal power dynamics of the company, with some factions seeking to eliminate him while others attempt to forge alliances. However, the situation escalates when he becomes the target of formidable adversaries, battling for his very existence.
As he attempts to escape, Yum Jang Sun (Heo Joon Ho) ominously states, "Seo Dong Joo took all my money and fled." In a charged encounter between the two, Yum Jang Sun—formerly the head of the National Intelligence Service—exclaims, "2 trillion won of my money is in your head!" The teaser culminates with Seo Dong Joo aiming a gun at his own head, asserting in a voiceover, “Just wait. I am coming to end you, you bastard.”
The release date for Park Hyung Sik's Treasure Island.
Treasure Island, as reported by SBS, centres on "the narrative of a man who illegally accessed a political slush fund amounting to 2 trillion won for survival, and another man who, unaware of the hacking, ends up losing the same 2 trillion won after committing murder."
What transpires when Seo Dong Joo's hidden desire to seize control of the company he works for intersects with a man who manipulates the most influential figures in society? Yum Jang Sun revels in his dominance, treating those around him as mere pieces in his strategic game. The premiere of Treasure Island is scheduled for February 2025.
Hong Hwa Yeon takes centre stage as Yeo Eun Nam, the show's female protagonist. Overcoming formidable competition with odds of 100-to-1, the actress has generated considerable anticipation for her inaugural leading role. The drama is penned by Lee Myung Hee, renowned for Money Flower, and directed by Jin Chang Gyu, celebrated for his work on Military Prosecutor Doberman.
