Paramount+ has released the official trailer for its forthcoming original series, Happy Face, a compelling true-crime drama inspired by the life of Melissa G. Moore. The series features a talented cast, including Annaleigh Ashford, Dennis Quaid, James Wolk, David Harewood, Tamera Tomakili, Khiyla Aynne, and Benjamin Mackey. It draws from Moore’s personal experiences, the Happy Face podcast she co-created with iHeartPodcasts, and her memoir, Shattered Silence.

Happy Face chronicles the harrowing and emotional journey of Melissa G. Moore, portrayed by Annaleigh Ashford, who, at the age of 15, learns that her father, Keith Hunter Jesperson, played by Dennis Quaid, is the infamous serial killer known as the Happy Face Killer. After years of concealing her true identity, Melissa's life takes a sinister turn when her father, now serving a life sentence, re-enters her life. Determined to uncover the truth about a man wrongfully convicted of a crime, Melissa grapples with the painful legacy left by her father and the suffering inflicted upon his victims' families.

Written and run by Jennifer Cacicio, Happy Face delves into the emotional ramifications of having a serial killer as a parent, while examining themes of justice, family, and identity. The series is co-written by Inda Craig Galvan, Bam Johnson, and Adam Toltzis, and directed by Michael Showalter and Darren Grant. With its intricate characters and gripping storyline, Happy Face is set to be an essential thriller.

Scheduled to premiere on March 20th, 2025, Happy Face aims to provide a chilling and engaging depiction of one woman's quest to comprehend her past while facing the horrors wrought by her father. With a distinguished cast and a narrative that is both intriguing and unsettling, Happy Face is expected to enthral viewers upon its debut on Paramount Plus.
