About Pachinko

Pachinko is a story set across four generations. It is said through the eyes of Sun-ja (Min-ha). She grew up in times when Korea was colonized by Japan. Despite having grown up in poverty, she witnessed the lives of both the rich as well as the poor.

Sun-ja meets a smart man, Kim Han-su (Lee Min-ho), who is great at finances. They fall in love and start dating. However, Han-su decides against marrying Sun-ja. This is when she is pregnant with their son. While Han-su refuses marriage, he offers financial support. Sun-ja refuses it and moves on in her life and with their son. Even if not married to her, Han-su keeps an eye on both Sun-ja and their son (whose name is still not revealed).

Years into it, Sun-ja gets married and moves to Japan. However, in a twist of fate, her husband gets arrested over a suspicion. Thus, it is Sun-ja and her child again. After putting up a fight for her husband, Sun-ja decided to come back to Busan, Korea, with her son.

The story moves forward many years later, when Sun-ja is already a grandmother. Her grandson Baek Solomon (Jin-ha) only knows life around business deals and does not take no for an answer. This is till he comes across an old Korean lady who refuses to give up her piece of land because she struggled to keep it in the first place. Now a changed man, Solomon leads a tougher life and has to prove his worth without being overly-passionate about making money by any and all means.
