3 months ago | 30 Views
Pachinko returns with its second season, and the story moves forward from where things ended the last time around. The K-Drama, set in both Korea and Japan, will once again feature what Korea was under Japanese colonial rule and what Korea as well as Japan have become ever since. The story is said from the perspective of the female lead, and there's a lot waiting to be explored.
Pachinko 2 cast
Kim Min-ha and Lee Min-ho return for the second installment of Pachinko. They play the roles of Sun-ja and Ko Han-su (lovers with a cruel destiny), respectively. Jin-ha is seen in the role of the grandson Baek Solomon. Soji Arai will be seen as Sun-ja's son, Baek Mozasu.

While it was previously reported that two episodes from the show will be out this Friday, on August 23, we might just get one episode, which will set the tone for the show. The story of Pachinko so far and what is expected further
Sun-ja has already seen Korea from when it was ruled by Japanese colonies to liberation and now, she is seeing Japan, once a superpower, break to pieces. This is while her own life too is in chaos.
The story for season 2 is set in the times of World War II in Japan this time (when it was a superpower but owing to one wrong move, suffered hell and back). Sun-ja lives there with her husband and does not give up on him for the longest time. However, she keeps travelling back-and-forth between Korea and Japan after her husband gets convicted in Japan during war time.
Sun-ja shares an illegitimate son with Han-su, who appears to be back to take his revenge (promised when Sun-ja left his, sold his watch and got married and shifted to Japan). He does so by reminding Sun-ja of their happier times. Han-su follows Sun-ja to Osaka (yes, during the Hiroshima-Nagasaki times) and states the fact - that he never stopped spying on her.
Solomon has also transformed, but it has cost him. He is spiralling back down to poverty and needs to find a way. Nonetheless, he has hope to figure out a way, knowing it probably cannot get worse than where things currently stand. But he is seen in Tokyo in 1989, which when the stock markets crashed in order to keep inflation in check. It was the time of Heisei (achieving of peace), which is letting go of old traditions and welcoming a new era. Unfortunately, Japan has been in the Lost Decade since 1990s, the effects of which began in 1989. Thus, his struggles to rebuild are fourfold.
