Paavana Gowda on Jatta: Praised but Didn’t Lead to More Roles, Says Agnyathavasi Star

Paavana Gowda has received numerous film offers since her first appearance in Gombegala Love, even though her filmography consists of just around 20 films. This discrepancy arises because she often felt that certain roles weren't right for her or that she didn't fit into specific types of movies. There were also instances when she lacked confidence in the teams behind those projects. She believes that the opportunities have always been available to her, thanks to her debut in Gombegala Love.

What she found odd, however, was that following Jatta, she was showered with compliments from everywhere, including praise from some of the top filmmakers in the industry. “The amount of love and recognition I received was overwhelming, something I never thought would happen, even in my wildest dreams. Renowned directors and producers sent me congratulatory notes, applauding my performance in Jatta, but unfortunately, that didn’t lead to any new opportunities. That’s a whole different story, maybe because I haven’t had a commercial hit yet,” Pavana shares candidly.

The Aatagara actress, whose most recent mainstream film was Fighter featuring Vinnod Prabhakar, is currently in theaters with Agnyathavasi, a murder mystery directed by Janardhan Chikkanna of Gultoo fame, and produced by Hemanth M Rao. The film features Rangayana Raghu, Ravishankar Gowda, Siddu Moolimani, Sharath Lohithashwa, and Yamuna Srinidhi in key roles, with Pavana playing Pankaja, who adds a significant twist to the plot.

Agnyathavasi takes us back to the late 90s in Malnad, a time when computers were just starting to make their entrance. The story revolves around a young man from a wealthy family who gets his hands on a desktop and a dial-up internet connection. He cleverly uses the convenience of this new technology to become the village's digital postman. However, things take a dark turn when two people are found dead, prompting the local inspector—who hasn't dealt with serious crime in ages—to dig into his own past to crack the case.

The film premiered in theaters on April 11 and received mostly positive reviews, but it has been facing challenges with audience turnout and maintaining showtimes.
