We had earlier reported that director Pa Ranjith will be helming a film titled Vettuvam. The first look poster was launched at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. While the director then went on to work on this year's Thangalaan starring Vikram, there is a strong buzz that Ranjith will soon begin working on Vettuvam.

Pa Ranjith to work with Vettuvam soon

Pa Ranjith, who delivered a powerful film Thangalaan starring Vikram, is expected to begin work on his next film Vettuvam soon. The project was announced about two years back with the first look poster launched at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022.

Now, as per the latest reports, looks like the director will soon begin working on the project. Actors Dinesh and Arya are expected to star in the film, with talks with Ashok Selvan also on. The project is speculated to go on floors from November.

It is to be noted that both Dinesh and Arya have worked with Ranjith before. While Dinesh starred in the filmmaker's maiden directorial Attakathi, Arya played the lead role in the sports drama Sarpetta Parambarai. In Vettuvam, Arya is rumored to play the antagonist. However, the makers have not revealed much about the film.

Vettuvam is produced by Abhayanand Singh, Piiyush Singh, and Ashwini Choudhary along with Aditi Anand and Ranjith, under the banner Golden Ratio and Neelam Studios.

The plot of the upcoming film revolves around Cholan, a leader who stands against oppression, but surrenders to law enforcement for protection. The film delves into the last few months of his life in prison. A release date of Vettuvam is yet to be announced by the makers.

Meanwhile, Ranjith’s last film was Thangalaan which is a period action drama. The film revolves around a group of tribals who are employed by British men to find gold in KGF. The film is yet to get an OTT release date.
