Kunchacko Boban's action thriller, Officer on Duty, has been confirmed as the only successful film from Malayalam cinema in February 2025, according to the Kerala Film Producers’ Association. This debut directorial effort by Jithu Ashraf appears to mirror the trend established by Asif Ali’s mystery thriller, Rekhachithram, which was also recognized as the sole hit in January 2025.

The Kerala Film Producers’ Association has disclosed that among the 17 films released in February, Kunchacko Boban's Officer on Duty stands out as the only hit. Vice-president G. Suresh Kumar stated, “Of the 17 movies released in February, there was only one hit - Officer on Duty,” as reported by Hindu.
According to Sacnilk, Officer on Duty has achieved worldwide earnings of 52.84 crore. The film, featuring Priyamani, Jagadish, and Vishak Nair, made its OTT debut on Netflix on March 20, 2025.
Other notable Malayalam films released in February include Daveed, starring Antony Varghese, and Bromance, featuring Arjun Ashokan and Mathew Thomas. Suresh Kumar indicated that these two films are unlikely to incur losses. The producers’ association has previously announced plans to disclose budgets and the producers' share from theatrical releases on a monthly basis.
Officer on Duty continues the trend initiated by Rekhachithram, as it is the only hit of the previous month. This situation mirrors January 2025, when Asif Ali's Rekhachithram, which also starred Anaswara Rajan, was the first hit of the year and the only success of that month. Following its successful theatrical run, Rekhachithram is now available for streaming on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium.

It is noteworthy that "Officer on Duty" stands as the sole hit from the past month. This situation mirrors that of January 2025, when "Rekhachithram," featuring Asif Ali and Anaswara Rajan, was the only successful film of the month and marked the first hit of the year. Following a successful theatrical run, "Rekhachithram" is now available for streaming on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium.
In January, several films were released in theaters, including Mammootty's "Dominic," "The Ladies' Purse," and Basil Joseph's "Ponman." Although Basil Joseph's thriller drama received positive reviews upon its release, it did not achieve box office success. However, since its debut on OTT platforms, the film has garnered significant appreciation from viewers.
