Malayalam actor Kunchacko Boban's recent film, Officer On Duty, is poised to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2025. To date, the movie has earned Rs 42 crore and is expected to receive a significant boost when its Tamil and Telugu versions are released in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana on March 7.

Directed by Jithu Ashraf, the film aims to surpass the success of Asif Ali and Anaswara Rajan's blockbuster Rekhachithram, which has nearly reached Rs 60 crore in global earnings. Rekhachithram is set to premiere on Sony LIV on March 7 in multiple languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, and is anticipated to become one of the most-viewed Malayalam films on the streaming service, which also features Unni Mukundan's Marco.

Officer On Duty Day 12 box office update

According to the industry tracking platform Sacnilk, the film featuring Kunchacko has generated a gross of Rs 21 Crores within its initial 12 days in the domestic market, bringing its total worldwide earnings to Rs 42 Crores. While it is common for films to experience a decline in their second weekend, Officer On Duty has managed to maintain its consistent performance, attributed to the limited number of Malayalam releases. This trend is anticipated to persist this week, with only three smaller films scheduled for release in theatres.

In a recent discussion with OTTplay, Kunchacko, who portrayed CI Harishanker in the film scripted by Shahi Kabir, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the audience's response to the movie. He drew a parallel to his debut film, Aniyathipraavu, stating, “Similar to my first film, this movie has achieved success beyond our expectations. In that regard, it is undoubtedly a significant milestone in my career thus far.” He acknowledged the entire team for their contributions to the film's success.

Officer On Duty set for its OTT release

The film, which enjoyed a successful theatrical run, is anticipated to be available on OTT platforms in March 2025. Netflix acquired the streaming rights before the movie's release in theatres. Featuring Priya Mani and Jagadeesh, the film is expected to commence streaming in multiple Indian languages around March 20.
