OTT Advantage: Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2 vs Mohanlal’s L2 Empuraan

Two major films from the southern film industry are preparing for their simultaneous OTT releases on April 24, Thursday. These films are Vikram's Tamil production Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 and the Malayalam feature L2 Empuraan starring Mohanlal. Both films, which premiered in theaters in March, are scheduled to be available on Prime Video and JioHotstar, respectively. However, it appears that Vikram's film may have a competitive advantage over Mohanlal's due to a specific factor appealing to the OTT audience. Here is the explanation.

Why Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 has an edge over Mohanlal’s Empuraan on OTT?

Vikram's Veera Dheera Sooran is scheduled to debut on Prime Video on April 24, while Mohanlal's second installment of the Lucifer trilogy, Empuraan, will be available for streaming on JioHotstar on the same date.

Despite both films being available on popular streaming platforms, Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 has a significant advantage. According to the promotional materials released by the respective platforms regarding their OTT offerings, a notable distinction emerges. In addition to South Indian languages, Prime Video will offer Hindi audio for the Vikram film, a feature that Mohanlal’s Empuraan will lack. Consequently, northern audiences will not have the option to view the Malayalam film in Hindi, although English subtitles will be provided.

Where to watch the best of classic Vikram and Mohanlal films on OTT

Throughout his career, Vikram has taken on a diverse range of roles, spanning from commercial action films to more nuanced performances in titles such as Dhill, Dhool, Pithamagan, Anniyan, and Deiva Thirumagal. These works highlight Vikram's remarkable ability to transform and his versatility as an actor. In contrast, Mohanlal, who is anticipating the release of Thudarum, has featured in notable films including the 1986 classic Rajavinte Makan, as well as Nirnayam and Sradha.
