L2 Empuraan, the much-awaited follow-up to the 2019 hit Lucifer, is shaping up to be one of the most exciting Malayalam films of 2025. This action-filled flick brings together Mohanlal and actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran for their third project together. Fans can look forward to the teaser for L2 Empuraan dropping on January 26, 2025. In the meantime, Prithviraj has shared some big updates about the film's release, confirming that it won't be hitting IMAX screens.

Prithviraj Sukumaran recently chatted with his fans on X (formerly Twitter) and shared some cool insights about the L2 Empuraan release. When a fan asked if there would be a flat ratio version for both EPIQ and IMAX, the actor-director shared his thoughts. He mentioned, “#L2E Empuraan wasn’t filmed with full format lenses. I prefer to keep it to anamorphics and a 1:2.8 aspect ratio for all three films in this franchise.”

The actor-director's update confirms that the new Mohanlal film is being shot in the same aspect ratio as its predecessor, Lucifer, which means it won't be suitable for IMAX. Prithviraj Sukumaran also mentioned that the third installment in the series will stick to the same format. This suggests that the third part might miss out on an IMAX release and will only be available in other formats. On the bright side, it's been confirmed that L2 Empuraan will have a huge global release across a record number of screens.

Mohanlal is set to reprise his role as Stephen Nedumpally, also known as Khureshi Abraam, in the upcoming film. Alongside him, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Sai Kumar, Nandu, Baiju Santhosh, Saniya Iyappan, and others will be back to play their characters from Lucifer. New faces joining the cast include Suraj Venjaramooodu, Shine Tom Chacko, Sharaf U Dheen, Tamil actor Arjun Das, Mani Kuttan, Karthikeya Dev, Caroline Koziol, Eriq Ebouaney, and more.
