Director Nikkhil Advani's film Vedaa hit theaters this year on Independence Day (August 15), alongside two other releases. The John Abraham-led movie went up against Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2 and Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein. Unfortunately, Vedaa didn't do well at the box office, while Stree 2 came out on top. In a recent interview, Nikkhil shared his thoughts on Vedaa's disappointing performance.
Nikkhil Advani discusses Vedaa's box office struggles.
Vedaa features John Abraham and Sharvari in the main roles and was said to have a budget of Rs 60 crore. Unfortunately, the film only managed to earn Rs 20.25 crore in India. In a recent chat with an online media, director Nikkhil Advani shared his thoughts on the film's disappointing box office performance.
It wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but Sharvari's love for Munjya and Vedaa was amazing, and John finally got the recognition he deserves as an actor... so I'm really happy about that, he mentioned. Even though Vedaa didn't do so well, Nikkhil's web series Freedom at Midnight received an awesome response from viewers.
During the same chat, Advani talked about how well Freedom at Midnight was received. It debuted on November 15 on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium.
"The feedback for Freedom... has been really rewarding. Friends, colleagues, and even people who usually don’t watch it have reached out to me. They’ve sent messages like, ‘My grandfather experienced the partition, or my dad always talked about it," Nikkhil shared.
