Nightbitch, featuring Amy Adams, is an adaptation of Rachel Yoder's 2021 bestselling novel of the same title and is set to be released on OTT platforms. Directed by Marielle Heller, the film was originally planned for a direct OTT release but received a limited theatrical run in the United States in early December, subsequent to its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

The black comedy delves into the transformative aspects of motherhood, gender roles, and identity, featuring a cast that includes Scoot McNairy, Arleigh Snowden, Emmett Snowden, Mary Holland, Ella Thomas, Archana Rajan, Zoe Chao, Adrienne Rose White, Roslyn Gentle, Stacey Swift, Darius De La Cruz, and Jessica Harper. It is officially set to premiere on Hulu, with audiences in India able to view it on Disney+ Hotstar. The film is scheduled for streaming release on December 27.

In Nightbitch, six-time Oscar nominee Adams portrays a former artist who has transitioned to the role of a suburban stay-at-home mother for her young son. As she navigates the challenges of being a new mother to an energetic toddler, Adams' character, referred to as Mother in the film, experiences growing feelings of boredom, frustration, depression, and anger due to the stress and monotony of motherhood, alongside the erosion of her previous identity. She reflects that her days as an artist seem like a distant memory.

However, the question arises: is she genuinely becoming a dog, or is this merely a liberating fantasy she embraces during her nightly runs? Will she ever regain her intelligence and happiness?

During its time in theaters, Nightbitch garnered a range of reviews, with praise directed towards Heller's direction and Adams' performance, while the conventional writing faced criticism.
