Amid a pool of content from across the globe, spanning genres, styles, industries, and names, there is one comic book character that continues to thrive in the world of live-action: Spider-Man. Right now, Spider-Man is seemingly everywhere—from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Spider-Man 4), the Sony Spider-Man Universe (Venom: The Last Dance), and even on Amazon Prime Video. Spider-Noir, a show focused on a very intriguing variant of the web-slinging superhero, is currently in development at Amazon Prime Video. The studio is jumping into the Spidey frenzy with this project, and Nicolas Cage is set to play the lead role. While much of the show has been kept under wraps, some behind-the-scenes stills have now given us our first look at Cage in character.
Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir: First Look
For those unfamiliar, Spider-Noir is based on a character from the hit animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. While the studio has not officially confirmed it, rumors suggest that Noir is a fresh take on Peter Parker's genetic clone, Ben Reilly, aka the Scarlet Spider, who will be portrayed by Nicolas Cage in the show. It appears that Cage has already begun filming, and new BTS stills have surfaced, offering fans a sneak peek at what’s in store at Amazon. Read on to find out more.
The behind-the-scenes stills, obtained by Just Jared, show us the moody vibe of Spider-Noir. The setting is dark, illuminated by warm lights that suggest a fiery scene. While there's no sign of an official suit yet, and Cage is seen in a trench coat over casual attire, it's clear that this is an action scene, likely with Cage's character in combat. The stills have left fans excited. Check them out below.
About Spider-Noir
Spider-Noir, starring Nicolas Cage in the lead, tells the story of an aging, down-on-his-luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to confront his past life as the city’s one and only superhero. According to a more detailed, unofficial synopsis from Comic Book Movie, "We follow Ben Reilly, a PI, as he stumbles down a rabbit hole of corruption in 1933 New York City, while also exploring his past as a superhero.
