It seems like the world has suddenly hopped on the bus to the realm of the neighborhood superhero who has entertained us in the live-action world for over two decades and still holds water. The world of Spider-Man, which was introduced to live action with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man starring Tobey Maguire, has grown exponentially and ventured into many new territories. The latest to join the league is the Spider-Man Noir show, starring Nicolas Cage, being developed by Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television. The show, which was in rumors for a while and then confirmed recently, is now moving forward and has a new title, cast additions, and fresh details coming in. 

The New Title for Noir!

For the unversed, the Spider-Man Noir show led by Nicolas Cage is one of the most anticipated projects confirmed after a series of rumors. Now, as per reports, the show has gotten a new title. While Spider-Man: Noir could have sufficed, the makers have now changed the title from Noir to Spider-Noir. This is an interesting way to hint at the wall-crawler who is now in the MCU and also to clarify that this show is not about Peter Parker. Read on to know everything about the same.

Yes, in case you weren't aware, Nicolas Cage will not be playing Peter Parker in Spider-Noir. Instead, the actor will be playing an aging, down-on-his-luck private investigator in a show set in 1930s New York. Circumstances force him to confront his past life as the city's only superhero. While New York remains constant, the neighborhood superhero is not Peter Parker this time.

New Cast Members

Spider-Noir is now progressing quickly and may enter production soon. The show stars Nicolas Cage in the lead, but the rest of the cast members were still being cast until recently. It seems the makers have found some of them, as a Comic Book Movie report suggests two names confirmed to have joined the cast of the Amazon show. The report names Fargo star Lamorne Morris, who has joined the show to play Robbie Robertson. Robbie was last seen in Sam Raimi's trilogy and has yet to return to live action again.

The other cast member to join is Harry Potter and The Banshees of Inisherin fame Brendan Gleeson. The actor will be seen playing the lead villain in Spider-Noir. While there is no confirmation on who the lead villain is, reports have suggested that the actor will be playing Norman Osborn, who in this universe is a lethal crime lord owning a vast criminal empire. This prompts our superhero to step up and save the day.

Spider-Noir Episode Count and More

Nicolas Cage, as per the same publication, has opened up about playing the part, what it means to him, hopping into the streaming and series game, and the episode count. "Well, I mean, the fantasy would be that I could try to aspire to be something more Golden Age," he started. "You know, something more like James Cagney or Humphrey Bogart. Or Hedy Lamarr or Bette Davis. I wanted to have that kind of aura, you know, like the more enigmatic, you don’t know too much. We’ll see what happens if I do this Amazon show [“Spider-Man Noir”], and they put me in black-and-white. We’ll see if we can get some of that flavor."

Talking about him venturing into television, the actor added, "I saw Bryan Cranston in 'Breaking Bad' stare at a suitcase for half the episode. I thought, 'We don’t have time to do that in movies.' So that to me seemed like an opportunity to open it up a little. I don’t know if the project [Noir] that I’m exploring has room for that. I think this is a much more sort of popcorn-entertainment episodic."

Talking about Spider-Noir, Nicolas Cage revealed that the live-action series will include eight episodes and described it as more of a pop-art mashup, like a Lichtenstein painting with some sparkle to it.
