Malayalam actor Naslen became a well-known figure after his first film, Thaneermathan Dinangal, released in 2019. However, it was his 2024 sensation, Premalu, that truly catapulted him into the national spotlight. This romantic comedy, where he starred alongside Mamitha Baiju, resonated with younger viewers. Made on a modest budget of just Rs 3 crore, the film raked in over 40 times that amount, securing its place as the fourth highest-grossing film in Mollywood for 2024.

The OTT release on Disney+ Hotstar (now JioHotstar) was a huge hit and really put the actor on the map nationally. Naslen, who will star in the upcoming sports comedy Alappuzha Gymkhana, shared his thoughts on this during an appearance on the Pearle Maaney show when she asked him about his life after Premalu. Personally, Naslen feels his life hasn’t changed much, but he does get recognized in public, even in unexpected places like Rajasthan.

What he finds amusing is that he often gets recognized in the most unlikely spots. “I get recognized a lot more now. Just the other day in Rajasthan, people approached me saying, ‘Pramaalu?’. I can see that I’ve reached a much broader audience, but otherwise, my life feels pretty much the same as it did before,” Naslen explained.

However, it’s not just the film's title that gets mispronounced. Many viewers also struggle with his name. Sharing some of his funniest fan encounters, Naslen mentioned that he’s been called ‘Nelsa’ (a nickname for Nelson) and even ‘Taslim’, among other variations.

Talking about his upcoming project, Alappuzha Gymkhana, Naslen describes it as a feel-good flick packed with action. “It’s a fun, light-hearted movie that also includes some fight scenes. It’s a sports comedy that revolves around the interactions among characters who are part of a sports club. It’s super relatable and promises to be a great experience in theaters,” the actor shares.
