Namma Flix offers subscription pack as low as Rs 14. Know more…

Namma Flix, the Kannada OTT platform, has been on a mission to build its content library over the last few months. While the streamer hosts a bunch of classics, newer films were rare and the few that made it to the platform, were relatively unknown titles. Content acquisition was a major challenge what with the platform’s subscription base cited as reason by Kannada filmmakers to prefer major streamers, even if the payout was not great.

After waiting around in the hope that at least smaller films that have not made it to any streamer would entertain Namma Flix, Vijay Prakash, the CEO of the platform has stopped focusing on exclusive deals. Instead, he has been adding titles that have had OTT runs under non-exclusive deals. This include films that are a few years old, which Vijay has on-boarded under pay-per-view.

While building up the library is essential, Vijay tells us that he’s also looking at placing Namma Flix’s subscription packages at rates that audiences would readily grab. “One such is a Rs 14 only package, which gives a subscriber access to the platform for a sum total of 3 days. This has been rolled out for Android users at the moment. The idea is to allow people to try out our platform and then decide what’s best suited for them. If they watch 2 films in those 3 days, that’s a good deal, right? There’s been good traction for the Rs 14 trial pack. Even if they take it to watch just one film, it’s still more cost effective than subscribing for a month,” explains Vijay.

Currently, Namma Flix also offers weekly, monthly, quarterly, 6 months and annual packages, ranging from Rs 29 to Rs 499. Vijay adds that his new subscription plans will be appealing to audiences in non-metro cities like Raichur, Gulbarga, Hubballi, Haveri, Chikkamagaluru.
