In the 5-6 years since he started in the Kannada film industry, actor Nagabhushana has mostly taken on comedic roles, earning him a reputation as a comedian. However, after stepping into leading roles, he’s eager to show that he can do much more than just make people laugh. “It’s straightforward; I’m not just a comedian, I’m an actor who also does comedy. With Tagaru Palya, I’ve shown that I can tackle a lot more. Give me an emotional scene, and I can handle it,” he shares. He’s also ready to demonstrate his ability to take on action in his upcoming film, Vidyapati.

Nagabhushana points out that he gets how crucial entertainment is in movies. He believes that viewers are open to any film genre as long as it's presented in an engaging way. "If you go too heavy on the messages and philosophy, you'll just lose your audience. That’s something to avoid at all costs," he says.

In his upcoming film Vidyapati, set to hit theaters on April 10, Nagabhushana emphasizes that the main goal is pure entertainment. The recently released trailer gives a glimpse of what viewers can expect. He describes his character's versatility as a highlight, believing it will impress audiences and lead them to appreciate his performance.

Nagabhushana has come to realize that his experience as a supporting actor has greatly benefited him, contributing to the success of his debut as a lead in Tagaru Palya. He feels that without his previous work, the film might not have resonated as well. He notes that Kannada audiences have a clear understanding of his acting style, which sets certain expectations. With Vidyapati, he aims to elevate his career even further.

The film is produced by Daali Dhananjaya, who also has a significant cameo, and features Nagabhushana alongside Malaika Vasupal, known for her role in Upadhyaksha.
