In expressing his excitement about the project, Kabir Khan remarked, "Stories possess the ability to connect individuals across different cultures, and My Melbourne exemplifies this. My film Setara, inspired by Setara’s own life experiences, explores themes of resilience and identity that resonate on both personal and universal levels. Collaborating on this project has been a rewarding journey, and I eagerly anticipate Indian audiences experiencing these narratives on the big screen."
Imtiaz Ali highlighted the anthology's distinctive nature, stating, "Cinema serves as a bridge that connects diverse cultures, and My Melbourne stands as a testament to this idea. Each filmmaker has infused their unique perspective into the anthology, resulting in an emotional and thought-provoking experience. It is uncommon to encounter a project that harmoniously intertwines multiple narratives while remaining committed to a collective vision of inclusivity."
Rima Das, in discussing her film Emma within the anthology, articulated her passion for narrating human stories that profoundly touch the heart and soul. She described Emma as an intensely personal work that delves into the core of human connection, highlighting the ability to transcend limitations and circumstances to uncover our collective humanity. Das emphasized that My Melbourne transcends the boundaries of a typical film; it offers an immersive experience that honors the richness of cultural diversity while exploring the personal challenges that shape our identities. These narratives aim to create a cinematic journey that is both intimate and universally relatable.
Onir reflected on the film's societal significance, stating, "For me, storytelling is about elevating marginalized voices. Nandini embodies themes of representation and identity, which are increasingly vital in today's context. Participating in My Melbourne was an incredibly moving experience, and I take pride in contributing to a film that advocates for acceptance and self-discovery."
