Kay Kay Menon's web series Murshid received a lot of love and positive reception from netizens as well as critics. Directed by Shravan Tiwari, the web show premiered recently (August 30) on ZEE5 (OTTPlay Premium). The gangster drama is set in Mumbai. Apart from Kay Kay, the series stars Zakir Hussain and Tanuj Virwani in pivotal roles. Recently, the streaming platform shared a new promo featuring Menon.

On September 17, ZEE5 took to their official Instagram handle and shared a new promo from the thriller series Murshid starring Kay Kay Menon. In the clip, we can see Murshid Pathan aka Menon making an unguessable move as he understands that the person opposite him outsmarted him. The actor's smart move and acting prowess made the plot more gripping.

Sharing the promo, the streaming platform captioned it, "Don't ever try to outsmart Murshid, mita ke rakh dega! #Murshid streaming now, only on #ZEE5."

In an official statement, Kay Kay Menon opened up about playing the role of a mafia don Murshid Pathan in the Shravan Tiwari directorial. The actor said, "Portraying Murshid Pathan in this intense gangster thriller has been a thrilling experience. I’ve always been fascinated by complex characters."

He further mentioned that Murshid is a former don-turned-philanthropist who is forced back into the criminal world to protect his loved ones. During the trailer release, Kay Kay said that it only hinted at the depth of his character's journey. In his opinion, Murshid is the tale of a father's sacrifice for his family.

Notably, Kay Kay Menon's series clocked over 200 million watch minutes within a week of its OTT release. While sharing the information, ZEE5 captioned on their Instagram post, "Dilon se screens tak, har jagah hai Murshid ki hukumat!"

Meanwhile, Murshid follows the story of a retired don Murshid Pathan (Kay Kay Menon) who is forcibly drawn into the gangster life he thought he had left behind. He takes this step when he involves the son of his former rival Farid, played by Zakir Hussain, in a dangerous plan.
