Stree 2, the sequel to the 2018 film, has finally entered the 400-crore club on its eleventh day of its release. The sequel has grossed twice more than the original one, which proves how much audiences have enjoyed the sequel. The box office collection even stunned the OG actors like Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, as well as the director Amar Kaushik. However, after the OTT debut of Munjya, netizens have compared it with Stree 2, and call it better than the Shraddha Kapoor film.

Munjya’s comparison with Stree 2

Munjya, starring Abhay Verma and Sharvari, has recently made its OTT premiere on Disney+ Hotstar a few days back. A large section of fans on social media have declared that they loved Munjya more than Street 2. While one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, “#Munjya is the best film in the Maddock supernatural universal, it isn't a perfect film, but it is better than the other films in that universe”, another one wrote, “#Munjya is easily the better film compared to #Stree2.”

However, a more shocking comparison we get to see is when netizens began to bring Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and mentioned that Munjya is better than that, but not as great as Stree 2. This led to a whole new level of conflict between fans of horror comedy.

Director Amar Kaushik’s reaction on Stree 2 success

Recently director Amar Kaushik, who made his directorial debut with 2018's Stree, told PTI that he never wanted to begin his career with a horror comedy genre. However, the success of the film made him change his mind, and he's quite happy that he did the film.

“When Stree released, it was my first film, I was very nervous. I never wanted to start my career with a horror film, that was the last thing I thought I would make. While we were editing the film, we felt this was a different kind of film as there was no reference point for it. I was also an audience member a few years back, and I was craving for good cinema, and something new. When I got the chance to make it, I tried to give something new”, Kaushiki stated.
