Abhay Verma’s second movie in Bollywood, Munjya, has completed 10 days at the Box Office. The movie has crossed Rs. 50 crore mark. On the success of his film, Abhay spoke about horror-comedies and how he believes the movie has attracted people of all age-groups. While he loves waking up to the Box Office figures, there’s more Abhay is enjoying with the movie.

What Abhay said on the success

When he learnt that Munjya has crossed Rs. 50 crore mark, Abhay told KoiMoi, “Yeah, honestly, it feels really special to wake up to some crores in life.”

What else does he love about the movie?

Abhay is also enjoying how Munjya is catering to people from all walks of life. He pointed out what happened when he tried to see how his movie is performing. Abhay saw a five-year-old enjoying the film with his grandmother. The movie, thus, caters to people of all age-groups, making it the perfect family film. “When I saw it yesterday, I was really happy that 5-year-old kids have come along with their grandmothers,” he said, adding that some movies cater only to the youth in the family, but he is glad that Munjya isn’t that movie.

Horror-comedies not for India?

Hindi movies almost never explored the horror-comedy genre, till Stree, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, released. Dinesh Vijan, who was the producer on the movie, then decided to turn into a universe. Thus, he released Janhvi Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao-Varun Sharma’s Roohi and Varun Dhawan-Kriti Sanon’s Bhediya. Munjya, starring Abhay and Sharvari Wagh in the lead roles, is the latest offering, and it paves the way for Stree 2.

Speaking on how horror-comedies are thus a tough genre, Abhay added, “I am so happy that people are loving it because there is no space for horror comedies in India.”

Abhay’s second success in Bollywood

Before Munjya, Abhay worked in Sara Ali Khan’s Ae Watan Mere Watan. It marked his OTT as well as movie debut. Munjya, of course, is his debut in terms of being the face of the movie.
