Mr. Bachchan is one of the most awaited films in Telugu cinema as Ravi Teja and Harish Shankar have teamed up after a long time for this action drama. The film is the official remake of the Hindi hit Raid featuring Ajay Devgn. The trailer of the film was released to a very good response, but what caught the attention of everyone was the press interaction that happened later.

Double Ismart vs Mr. Bachchan controversy explained in detail

Clips from the session have now gone viral on social media, and we bring you a detailed update on why Netflix is the major reason for the teams of these two films to be at loggerheads with each other.

Firstly, Harish Shankar cleared the air on the release date issues of Double Ismart and Mr Bachchan, as both the films are coming out on the same date of August 15, 2024. Harish said that they did not have any plan to release during the Independence Day weekend, but due to the OTT release date and the money spent, they had no choice but to release the film along with Double Ismart.

Mr. Bachchan OTT rights details

Netflix has bagged the digital rights for Mr Bachchan and they have spent a bomb on the rights. Naturally, they had put a condition on the makers to release the film at a specific time. As per the news, Mr Bachchan will be out on OTT in the third week of September 2024.

Netflix has already locked its release list for Telugu films for the year 2024 and wanted Mr Bachchan to come out between September 15th to 20th dates, and that is why they put pressure on the makers. The producers of Mr Bachchan, People Media Factor, had no choice but to oblige Netflix and bring the film for the Independence Day weekend.

Harish Shankar was asked the same question and he also confirmed that the OTT release date was also one of the reasons for locking the theatrical release date on August 15, 2024. Seeing this scenario, one can understand that OTT platforms are dominating the theatrical release dates as well.

This trend is slowly catching up but it has also created a lot of issues internally. The team of Double Ismart and Puri Jagannadh is miffed with Ravi Teja and his team of Mr. Bachchan, and there is a lot of tension between the two teams at the moment. So, we need to which film will come on top when they release on August 15, 2024.
