Mousumi Chatterjee is set to make a comeback in a Bengali film after more than a decade. In a recent interview, the veteran actress admitted that she will be seen in a Bengali film, Ari. She was last seen in Aparna Sen’ Goynar Baksho with Konkona Sen Sharma and others.
In an interview with TV9 Bangla, the actress further admitted that she liked the title of the film. The film has a social message which she liked. The character fits her as well, she said. That is why she is coming back to Bengali films. But she is vocal in demanding justice for the RG Kar incident.
The Piku-actress is shocked at the heinous rape and murder of the female doctor at the RG Kar Hospital. The veteran actress said that she could not sleep at night and kept on thinking about the victim. She is tormented with anger and frustration.
Mousumi told TV 9 Bangla, “I can’t sleep. I keep on thinking about the RG Kar incident throughout the day.” Mousumi, with folded hands, requested the protesters not to give up till justice was delivered. She wants a speedy trial of the case.
Mousumi has been prolific in Bengali and Hindi films. She was among the highest-paid Bollywood actresses in the ’70s. Her small presence in the film Piku amazed the audience.
