
Most-Awaited Kannada OTT Releases in May 2025 on JioHotstar, Netflix, Prime Video, Sony LIV, and Zee5

In the first quarter of 2025, an impressive 72 Kannada films hit the theaters, but only around 10 have made their way to OTT platforms so far. Most of the films you can stream right now are on Amazon Prime Video, with a few also available on Sun NXT. Unfortunately, the reality is that over 80% of the films released this year are stuck without a streaming partner.

Anamadheya Ashok Kumar
In Sagar Kumar's debut film, Anamadheya Ashok Kumar, a top lawyer is killed, and the prime suspect is a journalist who was there to interview him but insists he's the real victim. The story revolves around the intense questioning between the investigating officer and this suspect/victim. Harshil Koushik, known for Achaar and Co, stars alongside the versatile Kishore Kumar in this gripping thriller.

Agnyathavasi
Janardhan Chikkanna, known for Gultoo, is back with his third film, Agnyathavasi, produced by Hemanth M Rao. This movie is likely the first of the year to hit theaters with a streaming partner already lined up before its release. Hemanth even postponed the theatrical launch to secure post-release streaming deals. The story is set in a quiet Malnad village where a murder shakes the community, as crime is usually unheard of and the local officials are not exactly seasoned investigators. However, the inspector manages to crack the case, revealing some long-hidden secrets.

Adhipatra
Roopesh Shetty, the winner of Bigg Boss Kannada Season 9, made his debut in Kannada cinema with Adhipatra, a thrilling investigation set in coastal Karnataka. In this film, he plays a cop who looks into the murder of a fellow officer and the case of his missing service revolver.

Bhuvanam Gaganam
Director Girish Moolimani's latest film stars Pramod, Pruthvi Ambaar, and Rachel David, and dives into the complexities of relationships through the eyes of the main characters, Abhi and Ram. Abhi is focused on fixing his marriage, while Ram faces his own unique challenges as someone with a disability.

Manada Kadalu
Director Yogaraj Bhat is back with producer Manada Kadalu, known for their hit Mungaru Male, teaming up with fresh faces like Sumukha, Rashika Shetty, and Anjali Anish. The story revolves around Sumukha, who drops out of medical school and navigates a coming-of-age romance. The cast includes Rangayana Raghu, Dattanna, and Shivadwaj, among others. It received mixed reviews when it hit theaters.

Vidyapati
This is Daali Dhananjaya's fourth production and the second one with his buddy Nagabhushana in the lead role. The comedy Vidyapati didn't have a streaming service when it came out, but it's likely to hit a major platform soon. Directed by Esham, known for Ikkat, and Haseen, the film features Nagabhushana alongside Malaika Vasupal from Upadhyaksha. It tells the story of a guy who lives off his famous wife's success, enjoying a life of luxury.
